Poems

Your Children And Mine

Your children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of mine
I taught them my native poem
And they are singing it out loud in the garden

Your children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of mine
I cooked for them my family’s favourite dish
And they have not stopped asking for more

Your children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of mine
I told them a story of my country
And they want to hear it every night

Your children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of mine
I brought for them two ethnic wears from home
And they always want to wear them out

Your children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of mine
I finally hug them goodbye
And they are crying in my arms

Your children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of mine
I have left them with you
And they will be alright

Your children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of mine
I see them running around in my house
And I hug them tight
.
.
.
.
.
.

My children
Are beautiful ma’am
They remind me of yours
I taught them an English poem
And they are singing it loud in the garden
